This hotel was a major disappointment. It's rating should not be more than a 7-7.2. I was expecting better quality because it's rated high but definitely shouldn't be. The staff was nice and attentive but the hotel is old and the food is just horrible.

Really nice facility, lovely ambiance, lots to do, staff very nice, food quite good, with lots of options. We had a great time.

Unfortunately I thought this was the adults only resort. The Riu hotels in Punta Cana are not affiliated which means you cannot visit another Riu property. Other Riu properties on this resort will not serve you free food or drinks and they are on the same resort.

I stayed at the Riu for my husbands birthday. The hotel is very nice and clean. They did forget to decorate the room for the day I requested so I had to complain and they did it for the next day. The buffet and restaurants have very good food. Most of the staff is very nice. For the most part we had a great time. The entertainment was excellent and the RIU parties were so much fun. I do want to give a complaint about the transportation. I didn’t have a reservation because I failed to book it from the beginning with Expedia. however, that was not that big of a deal as we took a cab from the airport to the hotel without a problem. My issue is when we had to book the way back I had to speak with a rep from Destinations Services. First of all when you approach them they have bad attitudes and if you didn’t have a reservation they want to act like they don’t want to help you. The rep Oddell, when I was trying to explain my problem, he kept interrupting me talking over me with a very sarcastic and intimidating way about the way he speaks to you. Anyway, I booked the transportation back (private one) and on the day of my departure and the time of (3:30pm) I called because no one was there and he gets me confused and on the phone sounds so robotic telling me that the transportation is on the way because it was picking up more people. However, I reserved private transportation! He calls me back and told me that the transportation was cancelled and to look for other transportation.
