Relaxing and peaceful stay
Posted 5 Dec 2019 on HotelsGreat hotel. Very quiet and peaceful. The room looked out onto the lake which was beautiful at sunset.
Room was big and clean with a huge bathroom. The room also had a connecting living rooms and kitchen area.
Tasty breakfast which we could look out over the lake as well.
Would stay again.

Great views but maintenance required.
Posted 15 May 2019 on HotelsThe staff are very nice. The accommodation is in a lovely location however it is in need of maintenance and better cleaning. The day bed in the living area of our room was stained in several places which was unpleasant. Some of the walls needed cleaning and in the bathroom (which is beautiful) the bath gel dispenser was very broken - it would be so easy to replace, so why hasn't anyone bothered to do so? The restaurant is very beautiful and the breakfast was nice but the dinners were average. We had a massage but when the massage therapists arrived at our room they did not have massage tables so they did the massage on our bed - which was very unprofessional and awkward and didn't allow for a particularly good massage. Overall we did enjoy our stay here as the architecture and views are wonderful however the resort really needs better upkeep. With better maintenance and attention to cleanliness this could be a magnificent spot. At the moment it is overpriced. WIFI was spotty.

The property was beautiful and very peaceful. Loved being on the lake and listening to all the birds. And the temple is a short walk away.

Unexpected luxury and a fantastic lakeside view
Posted 20 Aug 2018
Pros: The luxurious and enormous room/apartment we had, and the lakeside setting.
Cons: The parasols outside our entrance were rather old and detracted from the overall quality of the room.
Location: The Botanical Gardens in Bedugal are excellent. Even if you are not interested in plants, they are good for people and bird watching,
We stayed at Puri Candikuning for two nights in August. I had booked a deluxe room, which actually turned out to be a huge apartment with his and hers showers and a jacuzzi bathtub. The bed was enormous and very comfortable, and all the fittings and artwork were of a very high standard.
The hotel can arrange for you to be rowed across the lake to the nearby temple, going early is recommended as you get some beautiful views of the temple across the water, and you get there before the day trippers.
The hotel will also provide free transport to the Bedugal Botanical Gardens which are excellent.
As you are up in the mountains there can be a lot of low cloud in Candikuning, which spoils the views and leaves everything feeling rather damp and musty. However when the clouds do lift the views over the lake from the hotel are absolutely stunning.
There were very few guests at the hotel when we were there, which did mean that the menu in the restaurant was much more limited than you would have expected given the quality of the rooms and hotel grounds.

Lovely ambience let down by poor maintenance
Posted 10 Jun 2017 on HotelsThis place could have been so much more. The ambience by the lake front is fantastic. The staff are lovely and helpful. But even they couldn't compensate for the run down nature of the place. The villa I was assigned was huge, 130 sq m or so, with a full kitchen, dining room for 6, giant day bed in the lounge and a set of sliding doors leading to a lawn with gorgeous views of the lake and a staircase to the jetty. But one of the doors was stuck. The deck chairs were without cushions (all piled up in a corner) the day bed was not fresh and the tableux above it was old, dusty and broken. The bedroom was huge as well with a day bed near the window, which would have been nice if they had bothered to put a sheet on it, rather than leave me a mouldy mattress. The bathroom was enormous, almost too big to be comfortable in. The water was variable and hot until my last morning when the heater broke down and I had to have a cold shower before checking out. Remember that we are at altitude and cold meant cold! The towels were frayed from overuse and under replacement. The mugs were cracked and chipped. The lights were blown and a bulb had to be cannibalised from the (also giant) wardrobe to give me a reading light. I only had breakfast at the spacious restaurant. The service was cheerful and the food was good. Some maintenance and freshening up of the place would make oh such a difference. It was a relatively inexpensive stay and now I understood why. It can't command more as it is.

Big villa in beautiful setting
Posted 3 Dec 2015
Pros: Staff very friendly and helpful. Acted very professional too. You definitely feel appreciated as the guest.
Location: Rural location. Great area for relaxing. Temple and village within biking distance from hotel
Stayed for 2 nights. Staff, food, grounds and villa beautiful. We stayed in the 1 bedroom villa.... very large with LOTS of space for two people. Bathroom beautiful with amount of space and view. Two large decks to use off our villa. Breakfast was good and meals in restaurant satisfying as well. Bikes available to use to ride into town or the temple. Only downside... at night weird noises. I know we were in a villa in a rural location - noises could have been bugs, birds, or possibly mice. Either way kinda creeped my husband and I out.

Peaceful place
Posted 30 Aug 2015 on HotelsMy husband and I loved our stay here! The room was gigantic. My favorite part was the jacuzzi bath tub with a view of the lake. Stay at this hotel to relax in peace. There is interesting sites to see in the area. This spot is less tourist heavy than beach or Ubud which was a nice change. The hotel staff helped us with everything. We are at the hotel restaurant every day. The only negative was that the wifi in our rooms was super weak.
