Really lovely hosts, quiet spot really close to the airport. Only downside is you need to take a taxi to go to the beach, but if it's a short trip, it's perfect.

Close to Basseterre

John, the owner and manager, was extremely helpful with suggestions about where to go in both St. Kitts ans Nevis. Though the Culture House may seem a bit outside the main action, it is only a 10 min walk to the main road where you can catch bus/vans to anywhere. Basseterre is only 5 minutes away.

Horrible. Totally run down dump. Had to leave early wo refund! Choose between heatstroke (no AC, windows cannot be opened) or eaten by mossies when you open doors wo fly screens. No lounge anymore (it is now a stinking dog shelter), no breakfast or bottled water as described. Fotos & text are a fraud (Food, lounge dont exist or beach pic from Frigate Bay). No beach view. Beach far away & cannot be used/dump. Google "Pics Culture House Basseterre" for real pics.

What can I say? Maybe post a review from another guest. peaceful, quiet and safe Check in is a t 2:00 pm. I arrived a bit too early, so I had to wait for John to come home, so, meanwhile, I went for a walk to the beach, not too far from the building. John is a very interesting person, polite, helpful, acculturated (not many know about european history or history in general) and knowledgeable, a good cook and very welcoming. He gave me info about the island: where to eat, to walk and how to stay safe. The dogs: they are kind dogs, never seen them around the guests apartments, but only in the hall, which is open ONLY when John is in. They bark, sometimes, but that's what a dog is for, isn't it? The room is nice and cosy, clean and with a lovely balcony where to read or just relax watching the ocean, very basic but very adequate. The breakfast: I loved it! I took a picture of the gorgeous breakfast with a tea that looked like a botanical garden tea. It's true it is a bit expensive, but it's made with love. I think anybody "demanding or picky" should choose another hotel: this is exactly what you get for the price you pay. Family was not happy... The host John and Tina was very nice but there was not much to accommodate family... They left before check out... If you’re looking for a basic hide away in the country then go for it but must like dogs too... Not for children or adventurous families...

thank you for your comments which are well noted. it surprises me that you reviewed us. so let us be totally clear and upfront. please recall your accommodation aim was to sleep your family of seven persons into only two rooms where affordability being the key point as the family will be out mostly to attend a wedding. to make this happen we gave you two nights in an extra room for the price of one. this you did not pay. our booking and cancellation policy gave us rights demand that payment. your reason for early check out is cloudy issue promoted by the fact that members of your wedding party got free upgrade in a larger and more expensive hotel....as a matter of accuracy we are not in the country. we are 300 meters from the beach. three minutes drive from the airport. five minutes drive to the city. as for family matters. your family left us with excess laundry with stains, excessive garbage and damage to bedding. main portion of our business comes from children and youth groups. we accommodate at least four groups and have to turn away as many every year. we agree with you that parents with families are not always our "cup of tea"

John and Tina were really nice hosts. They gave us a good orientation of the island, must see spots, dining and general advice on how to get around. Every morning before we went out Tina would ask where we were going and suggests good places to see in that area and it always worked out better than the spots we had intended to see. The room was clean and comfortable, probably could use a mini refrigerator and better lighting. My two main issues would be the plumbing in the bathroom, as water backed up every time we showered and the dogs.

Ladies and Gentlemen. If you are expecting the Ritz hotel please go elsewhere. If you are looking for a comfortable, clean and relaxing retreat then this is your place. John was the pillar of hospitality and ensured I had everything I needed to be comfortable. The location is "Lived in" and rustic and John resues dogs so if you are not an animal lover this is not the place for you. The location is for the "World Traveler" or someone who wants to have some quiet time and enjoy a drink on the balcony while reading a good novel quietly. The Wifi works great - was able to stream movies on netflix without any issues however please note there is not a microwave, fridge etc in the room however John will do his best to accomodate you. There is no AC which is a shock at first however you do get used to it over time and makes the shower so much enjoyable as it is a coolish shower which I enjoyed. Reading through some of these reviews is quite sad as honestly you get for what you pay for. Make sure you rent a car or have someone to drive you around the island. Everything is close in proximity however a car or bike is something I would recommend you have to get around. There are bugs as there is throughout the Caribbean however I wasnt really bother by them. John - Thanks for your hospitality and kindness and look forward to coming back again for a relaxing time. Cheers
