Please exercise some patience, as there are non-English speaking staff but they will try to help you. The rooms are really small. My TV didn't work and as a solo traveler, that was a bit disappointing and the staff couldn't fix it. In addition, I couldn't control the air conditioner with the remote and it's powered by inserting the door entry card into a slot by the front door. Which means, I had to get up throughout the night to turn off the A/C. This area was incredibly noisy during my visit and you must be careful at night. The staff was very nice and I loved the sweet dog! Breakfast was simple. Overall, the price per night matched my experience.

Great place, calm and quiet….even though it’s near a busy beach area. Beautiful old mansion, lovely art, nice breakfast, staff speaks English, great location

What an adorable and comfortable place! I felt safe as a solo female traveler. They were awesome in accommodating breakfast for me to a vegan, gluten-free diet. It's super clean and walkable to a lot of places. My favorite part is Zulema - the hotel dog!

Bed & breakfast very close to the beaches in Barra
Posted 20 May 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Staff, location, breakfast!
Cons: Quality of the rooms.
Location: Location is good- beaches are VERY close by. There are many people around the beach boardwalk at night, which was nice.
Pousada Estrela do Mar was a nice bed & breakfast. The best parts of the hotel are definitely the staff, the location close to the beaches in Barra & the Barra Lighthouse, and the breakfast! The hotel itself is otherwise quite basic. We stayed in a 1 bed- room and though there was a small balcony, the room itself was small.
Also, make sure they turn on the hot water for the shower! We didn't have hot water our first day because it wasn't turned on.

Thanks for staying with us and your feedback. I am glad you enjoyed the location, breakfast and the bed. Our "Basic" room is indeed quite basic. As you mention it is small. The "Superior" rooms are slightly more expensive but they are bigger. This is an old house which was restored and turned into a guesthouse. All the rooms are different sizes. Our showers have 3 temperature settings on them - cold, war and hot. I imagine a previous guest turned it to cold. I am really sorry that the maid who prepared the room for your arrival did not observe that. As you remember we rectified the problem as soon as you informed us
