Great for a quiet rural retreat
Posted 4 Jun 2018 on HotelsGreat for a quiet rural retreat. Visited in early June time, the surrounding area is beautiful. Own transport essential, but a great base for visiting the city and local beaches, as well as exploring the countryside. We arrived late, and although check in is 1pm-6pm, the friendly staff were waiting for us at 1am (we had called in advance). The hotel has a small farm, activities for children (hire wire walks, archery etc), so would imagine it would be prefect for family breaks too, though weekend days would presumably get very busy. Would highly recommend, and would definitely return!

Disappointing
Posted 1 May 2018 on HotelsThe position and the hotel are very good. The management seems unconcerned about problems. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. The first day required an hours wait because the chef had been misinformed. A random member of the family turned up the next day and provided us with what seemed to be dried leftovers from the previous morning. Timing and quality improved on our last day but the quantity halved. We ate in the restaurant on one night. The quality was good but extremely overpriced (90.00€ For two with no wine or dessert) and the 'service' was farcical. The moment one of us had finished a course the plate was removed and the next dish brought so that we were eating different courses to each other. The bar in the village is good value and helpful - it is where at least one member of the hotel management eats his lunch!

I had to book a hotel outside of Barcelona, and I am so glad that I booked this one. My husband and I were there for only one night, but we were so glad to stay outside of the city in the small town of Sant Antoni de Vilamajor. I rented a car with GPS and was able to find it pretty easily despite the farmhouse being off an unpaved road. The countryside was beautiful and peaceful. There was a light snow shower while we were there, and we were the only guests in the entire farmhouse!
Room was very clean, warm, and had modern bathroom amenities. The restaurant and bar were closed on Tuesday, but we were able to go to Bar Vilamajor for traditional Catalan cuisine. There was a light breakfast included with our rate in the morning. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. It would be lovely to stay there with family during the warm months. It seems like there is so many outdoor activities. Would definitely recommend.

A magnificent property in Barcelona vicinity
Posted 2 Sep 2017 on Orbitz
Pros: Everything is first class!
Cons: It is absolutely perfect
Location: Barcelona 45 min; Dali museum in Figuera 1 hour, Costa Brava begins 1 hour north east; great beaches, such as Tossa on the way.
What a gem! Why would you want to stay in Barcelona and pay exorbitant rates for tiny rooms? If you have a car and want to enjoy rural Spain and you are willing to drive 45 minutes from Barcelona, you will not be disappointed. Can Ribalta is a most charming place. Two brothers, Jordi and Manuel own it and they are personally involved with everything. They will personally ensure your comfort, as they did for me. The A/C did not work the first night, and both brothers worked tirelessly in the night to ensure all was comfortable. The property is nestled in a calm and charming rural suburb - if you have navigation, it will deposit you to the lodge effortlessly. The hotel is supported by the local residents for its famed gastronomy - I had only breakfast there and it was perfect. The property has 7 superb rooms, all lovingly and proudly maintained. The room is very large and bright - mine had views of the mountains. Bathrooms are superb and completely modern. Wi fi worked perfect and the bed was comfortable. I travel very often and I am fastidious - Can Ribalta had nothing whatsoever to find fault with. It is a most loving endeavor of two earnest brothers who have developed this lovely property. God willing, we will go back again.

A beautiful and peaceful place to be, kind personal and clean rooms. We went by car and travelled to Barcelona by train in 40 minutes by parking the car at the station of a nearby village. A fine solution for the parking problems in Barcelona.
