Stroll through crafted gardens and admire resplendent interiors in a stunning palace that seamlessly blends Indian and Tudor styles.

Experience the splendor of Bangalore Palace, a magnificent castle surrounded by beautiful gardens. Explore the grand rooms and grounds and try the rides inside its amusement park.

This late 19th-century structure was used by both British officers and Indian royalty as a home and a place of business. Notice the intriguing architectural mix that combines the sprawling layout of Mughal palaces with the fortifications of castles found in Normandy and England.

Admire the sharp soaring turrets and angular battlements as you approach the palace through its gardens. Inside, you will find 35 rooms spread over two floors.

Entering the palace on the first floor, note the distinctly Tudor interior design. Wooden beams, relief paintings and neo-classic floral carvings adorn the walls. Those who have an interest in antiques will delight in the chairs and cabinets in these rooms, many of which are genuine Victorian or Edwardian pieces.

On the second floor, go into Durbar Hall, where the king once addressed his noble assembly. This bright interior is given a royal aura by columns, chandeliers and ornamental mirrors. See the elephant head mounted on one of the walls and inspect the pearl-laden dining table. This once belonged to Sir Mirza Ismail, a former Indian statesman.

Before heading back downstairs, explore rooms filled with works of art. Of the painting collection, several Greek and Dutch pieces have been here since the 19th century.

Though not as extensive as they once were, the palace gardens still cover 454 acres (183 hectares). Take a stroll through the attractive floral landscape which has drawn famous bands, such as the Rolling Stones, to hold concerts here.

At the northern end of the grounds, enjoy entertainment for all ages at Fun World. This exciting precinct features amusement rides, water slides, a bowling alley and a virtual racing track.

Bangalore Palace is located just north of Bengaluru's center, near the Railway Bridge in Vasanthnagar. It is open daily and there is an entry fee, which includes an English audio tour. Fun World has a separate entry fee.
