We have stayed at the Elk & Avenue before and had a much better experience. This time however was quite disappointing. It was a birthday trip to the mountains with our two young children. We checked in a little before checkin time and were given a horrible room on the ground floor. The window view was that of an industrial unit of some kind in front of a fence. the room itself was tired and dated. As well as very small and not even room for a lounge chair in the room. The bathroom was tiny, dark, dingy and the walls were marked up and the shower head was coated in calcifications so we had to pick them off in order to get the water to flow correctly. the overhead lights on the bed flickered constantly so we couldn't even use them. I also noticed that staff could walk right next to the window so there was also a lack of privacy if you were to open the blinds. I went back to the reception to request a different room perhaps on a higher floor. The receptionist was insistent that we could not switch rooms although the checkin time was still 10 mins away and there would be an influx of guests arriving shortly. Shortly after that request there was a line up of about 20 guests ready to check in. We went to have a jacuzzi after dinner that night but the jacuzzi was also shut down. So the 4 of us we ended up staying in that room for 2 nights. Based on that experience I would not stay again. That being said, the restaurant in the hotel is great.

This hotel was really great. We were however disappointed that the hot tub and pool were closed for Reno’s and parking was limited for trucks so we had to park at the high school … it was better than nothing but not the most convenient.
