Beautiful historic building in great condition. The hotel manager called us ahead of time to check on our ETA, and provided us with instructions for our check in after hours. The hotel has its own parking area within own premises. The room was very nice, clean and with a roomy bathroom. The breakfast was served in an expansive glass room, and there was a good selection of quality food.

The situation was good and the hotel pleasant.
Staff downright rude - we asked where the bar was for pre-dinner drinks only to find they'd locked it up within 10 minutes of asking. Presumably they didn't like the thought of seven men having a drink despite the fact that all in their sixties or seventies. We were then offered to be served drinks outside but no-one came in 15 minutes so we took our business elsewhere. We will not be returning to this establishment which is a pity as a pleasant hotel.

Awkward bathroom

Pros: The staff were lovely.
Cons: Maybe a walk in shower.
Location: Superb location. I was there for a music festival. I would recommend taking the Molli steam train to the coast, it's beautiful.
I didn't feel safe getting into & out of the combined bath/shower. The access was restricted by a 45 degree angled roof. I had a fear of slipping, especially getting out of the bath. Also the beautifully tiled floor is slippy if water touches it. This was my only problem.

We could photograph trains right from hotel balcony . The breakfast was sumptuous, and the bar excelllent.

Hotel Prinzenpalais, Bad Doberan
Posted 10 May 2011 on HotelsThis really is a gem of a hotel situated in Bad Doberan in north Germany. I only stayed for one night but wished I had booked for longer. The village itself is pleasant and quiet so is a perfect place to relax. I went to travel on Der Molli, a 3ft narrow guage steam railway that runs through the main street and both the railway and the hotel are highly recommended.

Überraschend angenehm!
Unser Aufenthalt in diesem Hotel war eine kleine Überraschung. Obwohl wir das kleinste Zimmer hatten und dies auch direkt an der Rezeption erwähnt wurde, war es gut ausgestattet: ein bequemes Bett, ein Fernseher, ein Sessel, eine Minibar (zwar leer, aber praktisch, da ein Supermarkt in der Nähe ist) und ein sehr schönes Bad mit Dusche. Besonders angenehm war die schnelle Heizung im Zimmer und der effiziente Heizkörper im Bad, gerade bei kälterem Wetter.
Ein kleines Manko war der Fahrstuhl neben dem Zimmer, den man kaum hörte und der uns persönlich nicht störte.
Eine positive Überraschung war die Selbstbedienungs-Bar im Eingangsbereich. Nach dem Prinzip der Vertrauensbasis konnte man sich selbst bedienen und seine Konsumationen notieren, die später abgerechnet wurden. Auch wenn wir dieses Angebot nicht genutzt haben, fanden wir das Konzept sehr interessant und außergewöhnlich.
Das Frühstück war hervorragend: Trotz der überschaubaren Größe des Buffets bot es eine große Auswahl, die mehr als in manchen anderen Hotels zu finden war, und war von hoher Qualität.
Das Personal besticht durch seinen norddeutschen Charme, ist äußerst freundlich und aufmerksam. Auf Sonderwünsche wurde prompt eingegangen, und der Service war wirklich ausgezeichnet.
Ein Verbesserungsvorschlag: Verdunklungsvorhänge im Zimmer wären eine tolle Ergänzung.
Fazit: Wir würden definitiv wiederkommen!
