Mia Hotels was a very good resort not the high end luxury property as they called themself but if I have a thing to return will be because the food!! The only one restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the food is absolutely delicious, very well presented and with elegance and variety. Rooms are good very comfortable and with some luxury details, the property in general definitely needs some attention, we did not use the pool but was not welcoming to swim there, the hotel was pretty empty, the area of the lagoon to swim is nice and pretty, but make sure you have repellent as there are lot of mosquitoes but A LOT! In general we spend a nice time there.

We didn’t like that the rooms are upstairs on a spiral staircase that is very narrow and slippery. We didn’t like the one the rooms had a key light in the bathroom not working and never replaced. We didn’t like that one of the rooms had issue accessing and had to go to the lobby several times to complain and we like that they offered free breakfast for one night as compensation ; we liked the spa facilities and the staff there. We also like tombs quality of the food at the restaurant.

Suites are nice and spacious Staff you can find different treatment, at the lobby Tania is very nice. Food at the restaurant is ok 3 out of 5, service can be better took longer than it should to get a drink or even for them to take the order, not lack of staff there was only two tables with 2 guests each and maybe 5 staff members, not the usual good service you expect in Mexico. Get your tours at the town, 1/2 price Wave runners not working Anyways, a great place to relax, we ended up dining in town where you have great options The hotel is 10 mins from town, you may find another option closer or in town for similar or better price

So disappointing and poor service

Given that this hotel is billed as 5 stars I didn’t receive 5 star service here. Most disappointing was the lack of accountability when things were wrong - we stayed for 6 nights and booked a room with a jacuzzi in. On three separate occasions we mentioned that this was not working and could not be used - at no point was another room offered, or a refund for any portion of the stay (other rooms without a jacuzzi had been available at a lesser price). I was just told to leave a review on Trip Advisor. Food at the restaurant was not particularly good. Overall I think that other 5 star hotels in the Bacalar region provide a much more pleasant experience.
