The property is historic and picturesque. Our attic room was quaint, but its low ceilings probably would be difficult for tall people. (We are short.) There is a rooftop terrace, nice for sunning, with a small pool. The restaurant, including an outdoor patio, is good, and we also enjoyed the breakfast. (A minor complaint: creaky wooden stairs to the attic room and also an occasional very loud noise, which might have been the elevator?) The employee who checked us in was efficient, but the night reception staff was wonderful! Around 11:00 pm, we realized that we had a transportation problem, and they quickly helped us solve it! The hotel location, mere minutes from the Avignon Centre train station and just inside the city walls, is extremely walkable to the Palais des Pâpes and the Pont de Avignon, among other touristic sites. We rented bikes for a short ride through the city and on an island directly across from Pont de Avignon. Avignon is also centrally located for day trips to other towns and sites, such as Pont du Gard.

Everything about Le Cloitre was great, though the food wasn't as good as I remember.

Injured while showering!

Sadly our stay was not good. While showering literally the steel grate by the shower head fell on me. It hit my shin then my toes. I had marks and bruises and my toes were swollen. I immediately reported this to the front desk and was told "this has never happened before" and when I asked if they had any medical supplies or help they said no. They scheduled the maintenance man to come at 0930 the next day and he showed at 11. At no point during the remaining days of our stay did they offer to comp anything or even check on me to see if I was okay. It was beyond unacceptable and they are lucky I was not hurt worse. Also we woke daily to new bug bites each morning. There were bugs clearly in the room and biting us in our sleep. I would not recommend this place which is unfortunate because the location is great. Lastly, the photos are not accurate to what the hotel and pool actually look like. I'm extremely disappointed in how our vacation turned out and how little care was given when they saw my injuries and even had a picture of the injuries.
