Admire the intriguing design of this famous entertainment venue and listen to the delightful tones of Mexico’s largest musical instrument.

The Auditorio Nacional is a prominent cultural hub, which hosts a variety of exciting events. Enjoy art exhibitions, dance shows, musical concerts and theater productions in this sleek venue. Capture photos of the center’s striking architecture and the modern sculptures that surround the building.

Learn about the history of this preeminent entertainment venue, which was constructed in 1952 by Mexican architects Pedro Ramírez Vázquez and Gonzalo Ramírez del Sordo. It underwent extensive redesigns in 1991, led by Teodoro González de León and Abraham Zabludovsky. The venue’s large hall consists of around 10,000 seats raised above and around the stage. Some of the more notable events the center has hosted over the years include two Miss Universe pageants and the final performance of acclaimed band R.E.M.

View the interesting modern sculptures found outside the venue. See the red-and-blue Escenario 750 by sculptor Vicente Rojo and the Tres Figuras Aureas, a distinctive triangular sculpture by Teodoro González de León.

Check out a jazz or pop music performance, see a ballet or bring the kids for one of the center’s many family-friendly events. Attend one of the photography, painting or sculpture exhibits held in this eclectic venue. Purchase snacks and refreshments from the bar on the western side of the auditorium.

Don’t miss the center’s impressive Monumental Organ of the National Auditorium, the creation of which began in 1934. Listen to its booming sound fill the hall during the warm-up before concerts and shows. This enormous instrument is among the largest in Latin America. Featuring 15,633 flutes of varying size, the organ can be used both acoustically and electronically.

Get tickets from the center’s Box Office, which opens daily from morning to night. Find the Auditorio Nacional in the Polanco district about 6 miles (10 kilometers) to the west of central Mexico City. The auditorium is easily accessible by metro. Park in the lot found at the adjacent Campo Marte.

Experience some of Mexico City’s best visual and performance art at this landmark venue.
