Don't bother

The room was large and comfortable. The shower cubicle is large enough for a ten year old, or a VERY anorexic ramp model. No normal person can have any hope of washing properly in it. Breakfast was pathetic - no butter, only margarine, and the coffee was weaker than my granny. Small selection of food compared to all the other hotels we stayed in during our trip, including the 1- and 2-star hotels we visited. No hot food except for some boiled eggs. The neighbourhood seems a little sketchy. By far the worst hotel we stayed in during our three week trip across Greece, well below the standard of all the other hotels.

I booked and payed for the hotel for my Greek girlfriend who had to stay by a few days In Athens. I picked this hotel sight unscene due to my girlfriend wanting a room with a bathtub. My girlfriend after checking in could only stay there for a day and a half because she felt very unsafe and had to flee the hotel in the middle of the night. She called me (I am in the states) frantic and hysterically crying telling me she feared for her life at the hotel. She ended up not going back to the hotel and checked in to another one where she felt safe. I had her go and get her clothes with a friend a day and a half later. I contacted Expedia for a partial refund and was refused. They told me it was up to the hotel and they didn’t care that I bought the trip insurance through them in case of any issues. I filed a claim with my credit card company and they are doing an investigation. The bottom line is this; if you purchase a product from Expedia, be it airline, train rental car and accommodations, especially if you are traveling outside your home country you will not receive any type of refund. If you have any issues that can cause a disruption of your trip, be to lose the money you paid up front to Expedia. I know it will rarely happen and but I just want to warn everyone that they will not help you in anyway. I could not talk to anyone. All of my comms had to go through a chat window and if you contacted them vice Expedia contacting you their “investigation” process starts over.

Greetings from Athens City Hotel,First of all from what you are saying you write a review although you were not in our Hotel, but for someone else :)Your girlfriend did not "flee in the middle of night", she was away from the hotel most of the day and came to pick up her luggage after finding another place to stay. She came with a smile on her face saying that she decided to live somewhere else without giving us any reason or mentioning any issues she had prior to that. All she had to do is to contact our staff who were more willing to hear any concerns she could have and do anything they could to make her stay more pleasant.When she asked for a refund we informed her the proccess of getting it (by contacting expedia). She then said that she does not want it. Have in mind that this happened in the reception area where there are cameras for security reasons.Few days later we received an email for a refund request due to "safety" reasons, a thing that we first heard from Expedia when you asked for it. We are welcoming thousands of guests in our Hotel each year and it is the first time that someone asks for a refund due to "safety reasons".We are sorry that your girlfriend did not feel safe in our Hotel and we hope that next time she would be more sincere and talk her concerns on time with the staff.Thank you.

staff was wonderful, eager to please..hotel was very clean. limited option for breakfast, same thing everyday.need lots of improvement in this area..very convenient for transportation ( taxi) a little far form most attractions.. overall very clean and updated hotel.

The hotel room was as shown in pictures when booking but unfortunately there was no heat during the night whereby you had to wrap up when going to bed. After housekeeping had been they would leave the window/door open which when you have been out for the whole day coming back to a cold room did not sit well. When asked about why there was no heating they said there was a problem and something about room being at the back of the hotel - this needs to get fixed.
