Learn the history of this prestigious winery, which was established by the Mielke family in 1982. Two years later, the family obtained the Spokane Valley estate of inventor Royal Riblet to serve as the winery’s headquarters. The estate’s Florentine-style mansion, which dates back to 1924, was transformed into a distinctive tasting room. Now known as the Cliff House Estate, this scenic property is recognized as a national historic landmark. See sweeping vistas of the Spokane Valley, downtown Spokane and Liberty Lake from the estate’s commanding location 450 feet (140 meters) above the Spokane River.
Wander through the beautiful estate grounds, which encompass over 4 acres (2 hectares) of well-kept gardens and more than 2 acres (1 hectare) of vineyards. Don’t miss the life-sized checkerboard, as well as the massive swimming pool carved directly into the basalt rock landscape.
Music performances and other special events are regularly held outside on the grounds and in the Cliff House Estate. Pack a picnic to enjoy while viewing a summer concert on the estate’s pretty grounds. Winter concerts are hosted in the cozy Arbor Crest Wine Bar.
