Lovely guest house in middle of town. Dont need car once there as Ambleside has everything. Friendly staff and good rokms

Very friendly and helpful staff, perfectly situated for towns restaurants and parks. Very clean and modern room with tasty breakfast. Highly recommend.

I arrived late and left early but Sharyn and the team made sure my short stay was very comfortable and thank you for the upgrade! much appreciated. Would highly recommend!

Posted 5 Jan 2022 on HotelsHad a lovely stay in The Gables and would definitely return. Couldn’t say one bad thing about anything, the room was beautiful and so clean, had everything we needed. Our breakfast was also lovely, as were the owners/staff. Couldn’t recommend it anymore!

Short but friendly and comfortable stay
Posted 18 Jun 2021 on HotelsVery welcoming and friendly; efficient COVID setup which worked well. Really liked the cooked breakfasts and many thanks to the breakfact team for looking after me so well.
Good location; <5 minutes walk into Ambleside town centre with lots of restaurants etc, and straight onto Loughrigg Fell via the churchyard and Rothay Park.
Only minor quibble is the lack of assigned parking (very small car park, but there are some spaces outside the entrance which are available on a first come first served basis. Would definitely stay here again.

Posted 27 Jul 2020 on HotelsThey should not have opened as they treated us like lepers, they were so paranoid, we felt so unwelcome!! Breakfast was a cold bacon or sausage roll, left outside your room in a bag, dry no butter, they said they had no sauce either??? Upon leaving, didnt even ask if we had a good stay, as they kept out of the way, im appalled at the way we were treated!!!

It is such a shame that you didn't speak to us when you departed as we are always around and welcome feedback.
In the current circumstances, we are following government and industry guidelines - sadly none of your party did the same with non existant socially distancing. We are trying to safeguard not only our guests but also our hardworking team which is why these new measures have been instigated.
The breakfast was not cold when it was delivered, the rolls were buttered as I do them myself and we do have tomato ketchup as stated on your breakfast order form, just no HP at the moment as there are supply issues with the sachets.
Your booking did not include parking however you parked your large van in our car park for the whole weekend as did the rest of your party. And you woke several guests on your first night here by being very noisy when you returned from your evening out.
I chatted with you at length when you arrived and if you feel that was unwelcoming, I'm really not sure what your expectations are.
