Intriguing

Posted 25 Sep 2017 on Hotels
The room was designed and decorated beautifully, and was exactly as described... a mud hut! However, perhaps the soft furnishings had been left inside for a time prior to arrival, as they smelt damp. This unfortunately exacerbated my partner's asthma when laying in bed. Also, the mosquito net did not fit the bed and had a huge hole in it and we were bitten badly! The location was very good, close to shops and restaurants. Though if you have not been before, it can take a while to find! It is not immediately obvious when travelling along the main road through Sangolda, as it is set back from the road. The staff are friendly and helpful, especially with arranging scooter hire and taxis. The food and drink was organic, locally sourced from their farm and vegetarian, with the option for gluten free... it was delicious! There are no meat options or mainstream drinks (coca-cola etc.), and although this was not an issue to us, this is one aspect of 'eco-living' that they uphold well. Another aspect of 'eco-living' that Saraya implements, is not flushing toilet roll, instead they ask you to put it in the bin! We are not sure why, but the issue was that the bins did not have lids. Ultimately we found the whole concept a bit awkward! Overall, for somewhere that advertises and prides themselves on being 'eco-friendly', they do a pretty good job. However, in today's society, with its accompanying needs, this is ultimately difficult to fully achieve, and we felt that it showed here.

Away from the noise yet near ATM, Stores, Food etc

Posted 26 Feb 2017
Pros: Kind, courteous staff including the owner, the manager and the additional help. Couldn't have asked for a better place to spend my time & PIZZAAAAA!!!
Cons: The tree house where we stayed on the last 2 days - wonderful room but the walls are paper thin (sound gets out- if something could be done about that
Location: Sangolda (North Goa) - the main beaches Candolim, Calangute, Baga - 20 mins drive roughly not too far, local churches, restaurants, museum of goa clos
My friend and I had to check in at noon on 6th Feb. We had taken a red eye the same night so we landed way early than expected. She had an injury which got worse while at the airport so we had to reach the hotel at 7 am itself. The cab driver couldn't find the address so the manager responded nearly at 6:30 am considering our situation to guide the driver. Anyway, the manager was courteous and kind and offered us to stay in the lobby along with lots of ice-cubes, a healthy dose of kittens and free breakfast. He made sure my friend was comfortable. The owner and the manager went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. I celebrated my birthday with the volunteers which was a memorable experience. It's a vegetarian community - the food is delicious. The cafe stays open from 7 pm to 11 pm except Wednesdays - the pizzas are to die for. They grow their own spices in the backyard. The art gallery and the cafe lighting and vibe - excellent place to get clicked. The friendly staff don't really get in your way - you can go do your thing. We stayed in the mudhouse 1, big room with a double bed, fan decent lighting, big bathroom, hot water, well flushing toilet - just what a bunch of neat freak girls need! Lighting was really nice. It's an earthy place literally and figuratively - perfect retreat for nature lovers - not too secluded yet not too in the middle of it all - perfect balance. The free breakfast was alright, nothing fancy, could be better, and the lunch pretty good.

Eco friendly accommodation.

Posted 10 Nov 2015
Pros: The decoration and how so much was created by recycling materials.
Cons: Internet. It was quite hard to find as Expedia has it marked too close to the main junction of Alto Polvorim. Some alcohol in the bar :-)
Location: Great local family restaurants. Water Leaf health spa.
If you like something different from the ordinary this is the place for you. Don't expect luxury accommodation as you'll be staying in a hut but it's a clean place with friendly staff.

One of the best places to stay

Posted 25 Oct 2015
Tierd of the typical hotel rooms I went ahead with Saraya and it was on of the best stays ever, the owner has designed each and everything nd its done beautifully. The rooms r spacious Nd feels really close to nature with the natural mud house. The best part is the artificial river which the owner had made and while sleeping u can hear the calm voice of the river flowing....

Horrible place, horrible service, rude owner.

Posted 28 Sep 2015 on Hotels
Property is good if you wanna try something else in Goa but horrible service. You will have to chase the staff to get your room cleaning done. No one bothers to change your bedsheets even. I have slept with spiders, cobweb, lizards, ants etc.. Very rude & mannerless owner. If you ask her to get the cleaning done, you will get to hear that this is not done everyday and "I am not here to argue". Seriously, do you think people visit your place to argue with you.. I have checked out a day before because of all this. Also cancelled my booking that i have made for next visit after reading review.. A big "NO" from myside. Will never visit this place and will never recommend anyone.
