We had a great stay at Hotel La Omaja! The staff were very helpful and friendly. There is a beautiful view of the lake and the volcanoes. The rooms were lovely with AC, fans and hot water. It was a little difficult to access as the final stretch is all dirt roads and the driveway is very steep. We really enjoyed our stay and would stay there again!

Omaja was excellent. We would definitely stay there again. It’s a family run business, and Peter and Marianne made us feel right at home. The food was delicious, and the drinks were cold. They cater for vegans and vegetarians as well. They get their vegetables from the kitchen garden, so it was very fresh. The view from the pool was incredible. You have a clear view of the sunset, the volcanoe, and we saw monkeys in the trees! The air con is the rooms is a real plus.

Amazing pool view and friendly staff
Posted 16 Apr 2019 on HotelsHosts were wonderful and made us feel at home, as well as showing us their town of Merida and the island as we got transport to a few places. Food was good and affordable at the hotel, and the view from the pool can't be beat!!

Hotel California
Posted 9 May 2018 on HotelsPool area lovely but small. Not enough loungers and very uncomfortable as no cushions. Staff friendly but could do more to organize excursions to be more efficient and cheaper. Everything you do costs $20-30 for transport so if you are alone with no car, it’s expensive and you feel trapped as hotel location is remote - but is perfect to hike Maderas volcano although hotel guide was awful. So far ahead of us he could hear us calling! And wouldn’t take us to lagoon even tho we had lots of time. Dinners were hit and miss with few options and I wasn’t able ever to get a ride anywhere after 4pm so never got to eat anywhere else on the island! AC in room was loud and not very effective.

Hotel with best sunsets
Posted 14 Apr 2018
Pros: the pool with a view on a volcano and sunset!
Location: San ramón waterfalls will take only 10 mins drive and then 40 mins hike one way.
We stayed in Ometepe island for 2 nights and chose la Omaja hotel. This hotel has a stunning pool that is located that way so you can enjoy a view on a volcano with absolutely beautiful sunsets
Stuff of the hotel was very nice and helpful. We were traveling with a toddler and even though there is no kids menu stuff was always helpful to prepare a meal for a baby such as rice with beans or corn, bread toasts and so on.
Hotel has bar/restaurant and the food is simple but very very tasty, they do bread right in the hotel and it is very good as well. Food selection can offer international dishes and local dishes as well, menu also had vegetarian options. Dinner had different options every day which was nice.
We had a rental car so traveled everywhere on our own but if you travel without it the hotel can help you arrange transportation on the island and offers some tours and excursions.
I would highly recommend this hotel as a perfect stop while visiting Ometepe island.

Beautiful hotel but very secluded
Posted 10 Apr 2018I stayed here with two friends while vacationing around Nicaragua. The pool was smaller than expected but still lovely boasting beautiful views of the lake. It is very close to the waterfall hike which was convenient. The hike is 3km but much more gruelling than expected. We walked but there is an option to rent horses. The hotel is very secluded from any type of restaurant or nightlife, although the hotel dining options were pretty good. There is also a restaurant down the road where we had dinner twice and it was so tasty. Authentic nica food and amazing wood oven pizza that I'd definitely recommend.
Water pressure in the shower was pretty non existent and the power went out one night which meant no a/c which sucked but overall a nice stay if you want to relax and get away from the hustle and bustle of travelling!!!!
