Best place to start the New Year!
Posted 8 Jan 2022 on HotelsWe had a really lovely stay at Maya Eco Village over New Years. The gardens and surrounds are just so beautiful and peaceful, and each bungalow is a little oasis within the property. We had a little 'porch' that we could sit at in the evenings and listen to the sounds of the jungle, or read at in the mornings. There aren't too many bungalows, so it was a very peaceful experience, with friendly people from all over the world staying. Amaya is a very friendly and accommodating host, and we wish we could have stayed a little longer in this paradise. Thank you so much for everything!

I booked this hotel as opposed to a hotel on the beach because the property looked very charming. It was! My boyfriend and I had a lovely stay. The grounds are lovely, the staff is very nice, the breakfast is great, and the room was wonderful. You need a car/scooter to access but could very well walk from a colectivo, just bring what you need. We will return :)

A lovely place off the beaten path.
Posted 8 Jul 2019 on Hotelsthis is an amazing place! very small - only 5 or 6 rooms, each separate. The road is dirt and rutted and it is farily hard to see the sign to get on the right road. And, it is not on the main drag for the beach. But, the beaches and the places to eat are within easy driving distance. There is no TV, and the amenities are minimal. Breakfast is pleasant and filling. The hosts work to make your stay nice.
Their English is minimal, but, they have a smart phone with a translation app that smooths out communication. But everything is quiet and clean and relaxing and save. We loved staying here. in the evening, there were monkeys and bats in the surrounding forest/ The hosts are eager to please. All in all, we loved this place. It was so nice to be off the beaten path in such pleasant surroundings. There was wifi, but, the signal was not too strong. And, one more thing. The mattress was the best mattress i have ever slept on. I wish i had remembered to look at the tag so that i could replace my current mattress.

The place it self is wonderful, but if you do not rent a car you are totally lost. The street is a off road with terrible conditions, specially after rain. We had hardly no internet connection , no TV or radio in the room and the lobby/ bar/ breakfast room was closed at night , because we where the only guests. T
The place it self is wonderful inmidst the jungle., but the hotel is run very unprofessional and we where the only guests and the bar/ reception/breakfast room was always closed at night. No or nearly no internet reception, so we could not use our tablets for films or music in the evening, we had no TV or Radio in the room. We had a rental car, otherwise you are totally lost it is about 2 miles of the carretera with very bad off road streets, actually I lost a rim of one tire not knowing which had cost me another $ 40.00 by returning the car.
Unfortunately we had a lot of rain and I tried to leave earlier to go towards Chizen, but they would not have refunded me so we stayed.
As I said the place itself is wonderful but they need to get more professional in all the service.

Location was great, very peaceful and secluded. Great place to stay if you want to feel like you're in nature.

Disappointed by Hotel moved to by Hotels.com
Posted 11 Jan 2019 on HotelsI was relocated to Eco Maya Village because the hotel I originally booked through Hotels.com (and had confirmed, so flights were booked) turned out to be "full". Unfortunately we had a disappointing experience. We turned up and were greeted, but nobody offered help with luggage, so my wife lugged bags while the man who greeted us looked on. We had Christmas dinner, which was hugely disappointing. My wife could not have a glass of wine unless she bought an entire bottle of a wine she had never heard of and could not taste first! I am a coffee person, and I have never had worse/weaker coffee than that served at breakfast. And there wasn't even real milk available. I had to use powdered creamer. For the price we paid per night, I would expect far more than this.
