Typical Haveli (mansion) in Ahmedabad. Charming place. We had the twin room with balcony which was fantastic, with private bathroom.

Cute as
Posted 5 Mar 2024 on HotelsThis place was so cute with heaps of character in the winding alleys of the old town. Hard to find but really worth the effort. Nice breakfast shared with 3 other guests a really nice touch. Ok Wi-Fi. Go on. Give it a go you will definitely enjoy the small hotel and its surroundings. Also recommend the barbeque tofu at the nearby night food market. Near the bus station.

I stayed in a room on the top floor with a private balcony that provided a lovely reading spot and view of the street. Note that the steps to the third floor are more ladder-like, than staircase-like, but the room was worth the climb. Also note that the street is too narrow for a car to reach the Haveli, but if you are fine with these two items then you will enjoy staying in a restored Haveli and interacting with locals. Clean room, nice bathroom and so-so breakfast.

Good way to experience the culture
Posted 27 Nov 2017I stayed at the Mariott then moved the nexy night to the French Haveli. The FH required a transfer from our taxi to a rickshaw to get up the alley. The alley was relatively clean, but still had cow and dog droppings all over. The people we saw all could tell we were looking for the hotel and gave us directions.
The house was very pretty on the inside, with clean rooms and showers. The next day my son played cricket with some neighborhood boys. One of the rooms had a balcony. The indoor stairs are very steep, and not safe for anyone with bad arthritis.
If you want to try something different from the Marriott or Hyatt, this is a very nice alternative.

Vintagefeeling
