excellent stay in a mountain village above Amalfi

Posted 20 Oct 2017
Pros: Lovely host and hostess, friendly and helpful. We felt at home. Excellent position on the edge of cliffs above the sea.
Cons: The only thing we could think of was to have the equipment to make ourselves a hot drink in our room
Location: The mountain village is an ideal base for exploring the Amalfi coast and for local walks.
We stayed over a week at Miramare and this enabled us to visit all the famous places as well as to relax in the village and at the B&B where there are several places to sit outside. Our room was fine, with everything we needed (except a kettle). The owner and family were lovely and looked after us well. Homemade cakes and cheese were included in the breakfast buffet. The view from the breakfast terrace is spectacular. We were shown round the animal area (with its sheep, chickens, goat and horse) by the two sons, who spoke English. There are places to eat locally in the evening and we mostly went to a local hotel where pizzas are made in an open oven. It is possible to walk down an ancient path, mostly on steps, to Amalfi, taking about 2 hours. The walk of the gods is well worth the effort, with excellent views of the sea and fantastic places such as Positano. We were able to travel by public transport to Vesuvius, Pompeii and Herculaneum and this was inexpensive and less hair-raising than driving by car on tortuous routes. The bus to Amalfi is often very busy and one must be prepared to stand at times. It is also necessary to purchase a ticket before getting on the bus. During our visit we observed a local wedding and funeral, elderly women collecting walnuts, locals drying strings of tomatoes and pickling aubergines, long thin tree stems used for supports in for vines. We also attended the church and tried to follow the service in Italian.

Excellent in every aspect

Pros: Everything, family that runs B&B Miramare is to be congratulated on every aspect of it. Location of the place. Quality breakfast. Excellent
Cons: Nothing
Location: Amalfi, Sorrento, Positano, Capri, Santa Croce, The amazing Pompei.
Beautifu, place run by beautiful people. Room was spacious, very clean with big bathroom and big terrace. B&B Miramare has amazing views . We enjoyed breakfast at the terracce overlooking sea. Breakfast choice plentiful, the best salami, prosciutto , sheep cheese made by family. You appreciatte hard work and love that went to make this place special and good food. They are friendly, helpful ,you are treated as part of family. We stayed 5 night and love it. After busy daily site seeing of Amalfi,Sorrento, Capri, Pompei or swimming at Santa Croce beach it was so good to come back to beautiful B&B Miramare for some peace and realxing. Walk to main plazza at San Lazzaro is 5 min walk from wich you catch bus to Amalfi ( no need to use car, we only used car to go to Pompei). San Lazzaro is 700 above sea level,to get to Amalfi takes approx 50 min by bus there us approx 20 serpentines ,it is ride you will not forget soon, the bus drivers are amazing. Thank you. This place is not just highly recommend but MUST STAY.

You will not be disappointed, the best B&B !

Had an absolutely lovely time at this b&b. The family that run this are the most friendly, considerate people you will ever meet. So glad I chose this place rather than stay in a very touristy Positano/Amalfi. The owners of the B&B helped when our bag with missing passport was lost. Wouldn't of had that level of service at a normal hotel. They even gave us a lift to 'The path of Gods' for our trek to Positano in the daytime. Just incredibly helpful and thoughtful. The breakfast, the views.... You just won't regret choosing here.

Sich fühlen wie zu Hause!!!

Posted 10 May 2016
GRAZIE MILLE!!!
