Not ideal when travelling light

Posted 17 May 2024 on Hotels
I was doing the NC500 as a solo traveller and stayed here as the last stop. The rooms themselves were clean, but keep in mind that there are no towels or quilt in the room. As someone who was travelling light, this meant using my t shirt as a makeshift quilt. I would’ve actually got some sleep with this setup, if it wasn’t for another guest snoring next door through the night. Of course, this isn’t the bunkhouse’s fault, but just note that the walls are very thin, and earplugs do help a bit but still won’t keep all the noise out. I was pleased to have the kitchen, and as I said the room was clean, but I stayed at 5 places on my trip and this was comfortably the worst value for money.

Out in the countryside near to the mountains. A great place to stay.

Hiket/Walker place. Should just offer bedding at booking? Who carries bath towel? Unusual spot, unspoken service, solitude.

A friendly welcome & a Cosy Clean Comfy Bunkhouse to arrive & as a base for adventuring around Loch Maree & Ben Eighe area. I was glad to find this simple accommodation - (no bunks, nice single rooms) - as so much has been 'upgraded' to standards & prices beyond the needs or budget of this rambler. With about 6 rooms, it's conducive to social friendliness & sharing travel tips. In Autumn & Winter, a covered outdoor or indoor drying area for damp kit would be a real plus But no complaints. Lovely Hotel next door to visit for a bit of pukka country life vibe.

Basic hostel accommodation with the one toilet, shower and small kitchen shared with any motor homes and campers. A comfy bed but bring your own bed linen or sleeping bag. Great scenery surrounding the hostel and ample parking. I was Munro bagging and needed a base camp which this facility provided 👍
