Honeymooners delight
Posted 2 Sep 2018 on HotelsRecently stayed here for two nights on our honeymoon trip to Kenya. After a week on safari the amenities were much appreciated, and from our experience, this hotel is one of the most luxurious in the country. WiFi in common areas was fine, room views of watering hole were amazing. Staff was extremely friendly. Lots of animals everyday at the watering hole, there are many openings to the outdoors so plan on bringing warm clothes even when hanging out inside. The beds could afford to be a bit more comfortable, but this seems to be a Kenyan trend. Did have payment issues, with the hotel stating they never received payment from website. After contacting hotels.com support a few times it was finally figured out. Worth the stay!

Thank you for sharing your experience and we are glad you had a memorable honeymoon. In regards to payment, we received notification from our local bank on 28th and 29th August 2018 that credit card had been rejected and that we should seek alternative payment method with the guest. The issue was resolved after you contacted Expedia.

Amazing experience.
Posted 4 Jun 2018 on HotelsAmazing place, very clean, tons of animals at the waterhole, very friendly and staff. Only downside is that the room was small, but hey, you are living in treehouse, what do you expect? Will be back with my family one day.

Trading on its past, but still great

Pros: Outstanding situation. Sense of history. Animals. Views from balcony over looking Mt Kenya
Cons: Food is ok, but probably basic for the price
The key to enjoying Treetops is to step back in time and embrace the nostalgic feel and slightly faded glory. It is to re-live a time when not every hotel was 5*, plastic and sang "jambo bwana" at every mealtime. Its a place to revel in the idiosyncrasies of a hotel built on stilts years ago. It has a fantastic location on the edge of the Aberdares National Park (entrance fee separate) overlooking Mount Kenya and a watering hole. The rooms are large and well kept with lovely wooden creaky floors. The place reeks of yesteryear with pictures and royal memorabilia on every wall. Yes the food is average, the dining area has bulbs missing, and not all facilities are up to date, but don't resist it, its a treehouse in a game park, go with it!
The night time viewing from the lodge balcony and windows is great, with Amos the night watchman buzzing rooms when rhinos, elephants or other animals approach. Fantastic to spend a night on a trip north of Nairobi.

nice place for a relaxing trip
Posted 17 Feb 2018 on HotelsVery nice place to try if you prefer something relaxing after all the drivings in Kenya. We book the Elizabeth suite but the reception got it wrong. I believe they're not on purpose but checking the room number is recommended (The suite is room 18). The suite is nice and big with the stunning view of Mount. Kenya and the drinking spot for animals. Though it's not the best season and the amount of animals is limited, it's still very pleasant to look out from our window and see everything. The bathing system is good. The water for shower is clean, sufficient and well heated. The food is of average but the service is good. We ordered two specially made cocktails (Because they don't have cocktail menu) and they were just so tasty. The fee covers three meals and an afternoon tea.

OK for one night

Pros: Unusual building
Cons: Liven up the staff!!
Location: We had lunch at The Outspan Hotel, which was part of the package. That was very good.
We stayed at Tree Tops for one night, saw a variety of animals and an elephant came to the watering hole in the early hours of the morning. An interesting hotel, but the staff don't seem very enthusiastic, especially as there weren't many other guests staying there. The bed was the most uncomfortable bed we slept on during our holiday to Kenya. The shower cubical could do with a deep clean.
