The seaside resort of Aberaeron is situated on the beautifulstretch of the west coast of Wales. at the mouth of the River Aeron.Hidden in a secluded spot at the mouth of the River Aeron, andwith just 2,000 residents, if you like the great outdoors, you’ll love thescenic walking routes and outdoor activities on offer here.

A small town with a big history, settlements in the area date back to the 12th Century. The seaside resort is now popular for its country walking trails, dolphin watching tours and its tranquillity. Visit Aberaeron and you’ll experience the best that Wales has to offer.

Architecture in Aberaeron

Unlike most towns in Wales, Aberaeron did not evolve around the changing demands of industry, but was planned from the start. Built in the popular 19th Century Regency style, Aberaeron is centred on a central Regency Square. Today, it is this grand but inherently playful and multi-coloured architecture, as well as its sleepy harbour, which make this town such a unique and charming place to visit.

The Llanerchaeron Trail

Take a short walk away from all that Regency splendour, following the playful curves of the river, and you will arrive at Llanerchaeron, an 18th Century estate complete with stunning country villa and magnificently landscaped gardens.

This working estate has a farmhouse complete with cows, ducks, pigs, sheep and nearby fields where fruit and vegetables are grown. A visit to the estate makes a wonderful chance to enjoy the Welsh countryside: take a picnic, or buy your provisions here as the estate’s fruit, vegetables and dairy products are all for sale. You won’t be short of a tipple to quench your thirst either as there is a brewery on site too!

Dolphin Watching in Aberaeron

If you’ve always wanted to see dolphins in the wild, this is your chance. Throughout summer, Cardigan Bay hosts dolphin watching tours and the area is home to more dolphins than anywhere in the UK. So get on board and enjoy the rush of heading out on the water in a speedboat to try and catch a sight of these most intelligent and playful creatures.

Festivals in Aberaeron

Aberaeron plays host to two annual festivals. Aberaeron Carnival is perfect for families on their summer holidays every August this vibrant and playful event includes a colourful procession accompanied by foot-tapping live jazz music, and it is widely considered to be one of the best carnivals in Wales. Aberaeron also hosts the Welsh Pony and Cob Festival, showcasing the best horses and ponies in the region.

"A very different experience, a shame it was November so the weather wasn't great, but still a great experience.
